Two men arrested, missing girl found in stolen van, Nebraska troopers say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two men were arrested this week in western Nebraska after they were caught with a missing girl in a stolen vehicle.
On Monday, the Nebraska State Patrol received information about a stolen minivan traveling on Highway 83.
Authorities in Colorado, where the van was stolen, told troopers that a missing teenager may have been in the van.
They thought the teen, a 13-year-girl reported missing in South Dakota, could be in danger.
About 3:10 p.m., a trooper spotted the van and pulled it over south of Thedford.
The trooper found the girl inside and arrested the two men: 20-year-old Marquise Spotted Eagle and 23-year-old Davation Taylor, both of South Dakota.
Investigators said they learned that the men also stole a vehicle in South Dakota.
Law enforcement found a rifle that was taken from that vehicle on the side of Highway 83, according to the patrol.
Troopers think the men threw it out of the van before the traffic stop.
The pair were placed in the Lincoln County Jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, aiding and abetting, child endangerment and possession of a firearm during a felony.
