LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two New York men were arrested Sunday after authorities say they were caught with more than 20 pounds of fentanyl and cocaine.

Around 11:30 a.m., a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol pulled over a Honda CR-V for speeding on Interstate 80 just outside of Lexington.

During the traffic stop, the state patrol said the trooper became increasingly suspicious criminal activity.

Troopers searched the vehicle and found several packages of suspected fentanyl and cocaine. According to the state patrol, the total weight of the packages was 23 pounds.

The driver and passenger — 25-year-old Miguel De Sala Rudecindo and 31-year-old Geudys Cabreja Nunez — both of New York City — were arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine, possession of fentanyl and possession with intent to deliver.

Both were booked in the Dawson County Jail.
