Two Omaha teens dead in crash in southwest Iowa

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two Omaha teens are dead and one injured after a crash near Creston, Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol crash report said at about 7 p.m. on Friday, a 2008 Ford Explorer driven by Izabella Martinez, 17, of Omaha was headed eastbound on Highway 34.

Officials say a semi had stopped for a stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 34 and Iris Avenue.

As the semi was turning left onto the highway, Martinez collided with the trailer.

Martinez and a passenger, 18-year-old Alex Mauseth, also from Omaha, were declared dead at the scene. Both were wearing seat belts.

A third passenger, a 14-year-old male, was injured and transported to the hospital. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The report said the driver of the semi was uninjured.
