Two people arrested in downtown Lincoln homicide

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Police arrested two Omaha men Wednesday in connection with a downtown Lincoln homicide.

Kavion Wright, 23, and Gregory Bahati, 30, were arrested in the shooting death of Saiveon Hopkins.

Wright is charged in a warrant with first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree assault and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

Bahati is facing charges of aiding and abetting first-degree murder and aiding and abetting use of a firearm to commit a felony.

The shooting happened early in the morning of Sept. 8 near 11th and P streets.

Police said that several fights broke out and that Hopkins, 24, was shot in the chest.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died a few hours later.

Another man was also shot, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
