LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were seriously injured Thursday morning in a crash in rural Cass County, the sheriff’s office says.

Around 5:50 a.m., deputies were sent to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 1, just south of Elmwood.

A semi was backing into a parking lot when a southbound Pontiac Grand Prix struck the trailer.

A third vehicle, a Ford Escort, also crashed into the semi and the Pontiac, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the Pontiac, a 35-year-old Elmwood man, and the driver of the Ford, a 67-year-old Elmwood man, were taken to a Lincoln hospital with critical injuries.

The sheriff’s office said the driver of the semi was not injured.

An investigation is ongoing.
