Two Seward County kids come across live hand grenade on river bank
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two kids were walking along a riverbank Sunday when they came across something you typically don’t see every day.
Those kids found a hand grenade, according to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 2:30 p.m. deputies responded to a part of the Big Blue River near Centennial Park on the report of an explosive device.
Once the Nebraska State Patrol bomb squad arrived, it was determined that it was a live fragmentation grenade.
The bomb squad then conducted a controlled detonation where the grenade was found.
Anyone who finds a device that is believed to be explosive is asked to leave the item untouched and call the nearest police agency.
