Two train derailments in western Nebraska reported along Highway 30

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two separate train derailments occurred Sunday in western Nebraska along Highway 30.

The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office reported a fiery train derailment just after 8 a.m. west of Dix.

Several fire departments, Union Pacific and the Nebraska State Patrol all responded.

Three hours later, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reported a train derailment on North Airport Road just outside of North Platte.

The sheriff’s office asked people to avoid the area while emergency crews cleaned up.

Union Pacific said no one was injured in either derailment. The cause of both remains under investigation.
