Tyler Goodrich’s friends and family cautiously optimistic about tip

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Since he disappeared, Tyler Goodrich’s family and friends have been searching for clues without success.

But two of his friends, Amanda Meyer and Rachel Barth, said they’re optimistic about an anonymous letter sent to Crime Stoppers.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that it received an anonymous handwritten letter related to the case.

“My hope is that is does brings something forward for us in order to hopefully find Tyler,” Meyer said.

It’s been almost three months since Goodrich went missing on Nov. 3.

“This is the first time anything somehow substantial has happened, so it’s hard to not get a little excited, hoping that maybe this is finally it,” Barth said.

She said they still have to wait to see if the letter is a break in the case.

“We almost need some sort of coordinate, some sort of idea maybe of where his last known whereabouts, or a phone pin or some sort of evidence of where to look,” Barth said.

She said even if the letter is nothing, it at least puts Tyler’s name back out there.

His friends said they will continue to work on social media platforms to bring exposure to the case.

Tyler’s father, Lonnie, said posters of Tyler have been put up across the country.

He said the letter was a surprise but also a bit disappointing because, as far as he knows, it hasn’t helped investigators.

Lonnie said it still gives him hope to see people trying to help.

“I sure hope there is something to this letter that brings some kind of information out there,” he said. “I mean, three months is a long time to have the same amount of information you had on Nov. 3. It’s what we exist on, is people reaching out still and people doing things and people calling in tips.”

Lonnie said search parties have dwindled recently, especially with the winter weather, but he’s hoping to get back out soon.

“I really thought by now there would be some things that were easier, but every day is harder,” he said. “Every day is harder. We need to bring this to a close.”

Tyler’s loved ones will be holding events in the near future to continue spreading the word.

The next one will be on Feb. 17 and 18 at The Chocolate Season near 40th Street and Old Cheney Road, where supporters will give out more signs, bracelets and posters.
