Uncle Sam Jam

Organizers say Lincoln's fireworks show over Oak Lake Park tomorrow night will not disappoint.

It takes about 20 hours to set up for a 20 minute fireworks show. But the pyrotechnics at this year's show say get ready for a breathtaking view.

The fireworks are all lined up and ready to be shot off. More than two thousand shells will light up Oak Lake Park tomorrow, turning the night sky into a spectacular display.

Lead pyrotechnic John Strubbs says the best seat in the house is along the lake.  Strubbs says, “not only do they get the fireworks but they get the reflection off of the lake itself. It's really beautiful.”

This year's show will have more boom, crackle and pop. You can expect a variety of colors, shapes and sizes all choreographed to music.

And the grand finale, is sure to be a big hit. One thousand shells in just one minute. So how much work goes into putting on a show of this magnitude? Strubb says, “that in itself is probably a good 20 hours of work. Then it's about 17 hours to drive out here and then we spend about 20 more hours setting up. All this for a 22 minute show. That's the works in fireworks.”

The Uncle Sam Jam kicks off tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Oak Lake Park. The fireworks show will begin at 10 p.m. If the fireworks show is rained out.. It will be held Sunday night instead.
