Unhealthy air polluting Nebraska
Air quality has been rapidly declining throughout Wednesday morning. With the latest update, most of Nebraska is in the “Unhealthy for all” category as Canadian wildfire smoke settles back into the area.
For the latest information and to monitor these conditions, check in with: AirNow.gov.
Because of this, health officials have issued an Air Quality Alert through noon Thursday. Especially when conditions are “Unhealthy,” limit time spent outdoors. Consider moving physical activities indoors. Unusually sensitive people should remain indoors.
So not only will we see hazy skies and poor air quality through Wednesday, but a good portion of Thursday, too. Latest model guidance shows higher concentrations throughout Wednesday afternoon. Then by Thursday evening, air quality should improve ahead of our next rain chances.
Besides the smoke ruining some of the parade, cooler air is here! Temperatures this morning in the 50s for many, as cooler air this morning will lead to a cooler day overall. Highs should only be in the lower 80s for a change! Thank you, cold front!
Maybe the most exciting thing of all is this cooler air is here to stay. Temperatures next week are trending cooler as we get closer. Fall-like feels are here!
