University of Nebraska names Walter Carter as priority candidate for University President

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – A career military man and former superintendent of the Naval Academy has been chosen as the top candidate to become the next president of the University of Nebraska system.

The university Board of Regents voted unanimously to nominate Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. as their priority candidate.

Carter is a retired Navy vice admiral who served as superintendent of his alma mater, the U.S. Naval Academy, from 2014 until this year.  He now enters a 30-day public review period and could be approved at the end of those 30 days.  He will tour the state this week and  His travel schedule will be online next week.
