Man tried entering Saratoga Elementary School in Lincoln, LPS says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Saratoga Elementary School was placed in secure mode Friday after a man tried entering the building.

In a letter to parents, Lincoln Public Schools said he tried entering through the front door around 8:15 a.m.

Staff immediately blocked them from getting inside, according to the district.

The school was then placed into secure mode, which means all doors were locked and monitored while teaching continued inside.

Staff called police, and officers resolved the situation with the man, who officials said didn’t make any threats.

The school returned to normal activities around 8:30 a.m.

“We appreciate the quick response by Lincoln Police and their assistance in keeping our students and staff safe,” the district said.  “I’m very proud of our students remaining safe, respectful and responsible while we used our Standard Response Protocols.”
