UNL hosts event to give less-crowded view of Lincoln Airshow at Nine-Mile Prairie

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The UNL Center for Grassland Studies hosted an event at the Nine-Mile Prairie for visitors to come watch the Lincoln Airshow.

Throughout both days of the Guardians of Freedom Airshow, around 300 thousand visitors were estimated to make the trip to the area.

Out at Nine-Mile Prairie, visitors could enjoy the show from a less-crowded vantage point.

The event also included a discussion about the historic strategic air command nuclear bomb bunkers on Lincoln Airport’s Land.

David Wedin, the director for grassland studies, said it was a great place for visitors to learn about the prairie.

Naturalists also led hikes through the area for visitors.
