UNL report says three in every four Nebraskans claim AI is risky

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) released a new report through Nebraska Snapchat regarding the risks and rewards of artificial intelligence (AI).

More people between the ages of 19 and 64 say the risks of AI is very high or high, with 76% of respondents choosing that option instead of medium, very low or low.

“It seems a majority of Nebraskans are nervous about artificial intelligence,” said Amanda Ganshert, co-author of the report and assistant director for research and methods at the Bureau of Sociological Research. “Men, younger adults and employed Nebraskans rated both the perceived benefits and risks of AI higher than their counterparts.”

One in five Nebraskans view the benefits of AI being high. 81% of Democrats and 67% of Republicans voted the benefits of AI to be low.
