UNL seeks to slash $27.5 million from budget
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln says it will cut $27.5 million from its budget by the end of the year.
In a letter on Monday, Chancellor Rodney Bennett said UNL’s revenue has not kept up with its expenses.
Bennett blamed “downward trends” in state funding and tuition, along with “historically high inflation” of health care costs.
The Academic Planning Committee will discuss a framework for the budget reduction process this week.
Bennett said he plans to propose a final plan to the president of the University of Nebraska in late October.
The announcement came just over a week after the university system said it needed to slash $20 million from its budget.
