UNL students get hands-on experience with electricity

Students at the Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction attended a power line safety demonstration Friday morning.

Faculty members paired with the Lincoln Electric System to teach the high voltage safety course.

The students who attended the event were Juniors and Seniors in the construction management and engineering program.

One student said she was she was more than happy to get out of the classroom and get hands-on experience.

“We did burn a hot dog, and you could tell that it was burning from the inside out which is kind of interesting since you know, accidents do happen,” Logan Lee, a Senior studying construction management said. “Potentially could happen to somebody on a construction site.”

The professor who teaches the course said he hopes it makes a lasting impression on the students and appreciates Lincoln Electric System for hosting the demonstration every year.
