UNLPD hosts first blood drive since 2019
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department hosted a blood drive on Monday for the first time since 2019.
It was a meaningful coincidence that it fell on the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
“At first it was just a day I picked, and then I realized what it actually was,” dispatch supervisor Alli Schultze said. “And on a day that the nation needs to come together with the critical need for blood, it just seemed like it made the most sense.”

Schultze said she knows how important donating blood is because she was once a recipient.
The blood is being collected through the American Red Cross, which provides about 40% of the nation’s blood supply needs.
