LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The University of Nebraska-Lincoln announced Wednesday that Morrill Hall and the Mueller Planetarium will be closing due to extensive renovations.

The renovations will start on Oct. 2 and last until mid-January.

The renovations will make Morrill Hall more accessible while also reducing energy and water consumption, according to a Nebraska Today article.

The changes will include a new ventilation system and LED lighting, which will allow the museum to appropriately conserve specimens.

The museum’s education department will provide virtual learning programs and science kits to schools during the closure.
