LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Take a trip to the past: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Morrill Hall is reopening next week.

University officials announced Tuesday that Morrill Hall, which closed on Oct. 2 for a renovation, will reopen March 15.

The museum received $9.3 million for the project from a legislative bill that granted funds for improvements at NU facilities.

The newly renovated museum now complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act, featuring wider doorways and updated bathrooms and classrooms.

Renovations also improved the building’s energy efficiency, which included the installation of a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.

The museum will also have new exhibits, officials said.

Susan Weller, the museum’s director, said the staff is “grateful for the patience and trust” of members and stakeholders.

“Our newly renovated classrooms will help us fulfill our mission to promote discovery of our natural world and world cultures, and also allow us to provide additional services to our members and others,” she said in a press release.

You can now register for the museum’s new spring break and expanded summer camp offerings.
