UNL’s Tuba-Euphonium Studio performs at State Capitol for first time since 2019

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The University of Nebraska Lincoln’s Tuba-Euphonium Studio returned to the State Capitol on Tuesday.

The musicians – which included alumni, students and community members – played holiday tunes in the Capitol’s rotunda for the first time since 2019.

Some of the music was even arranged by students.

Bo Atlas, the studio’s director, said the group loves playing in the rotunda because of the audience and the sound quality.

“You cut off a chord and it keeps ringing for another 15 seconds, and you can only get that with this incredibly high ceiling here at the rotunda and of course the wonderful tile and stone acoustics in here really make that happen for us,” Atlas said.

Those wanting to perform with the group can sign up on Atlas’ website.
