UPDATE: Lincoln man arrested for alleged theft of thousands from video game store

A Lincoln man was arrested for felony theft Thursday, after authorities served a warrant at a Lincoln gaming store.
An Omaha Police Department spokeswoman told Channel 8 Eyewitness News the search at Gamers, near 27th and Superior Street, was related to the investigation of a reported burglary at an Omaha video game store.
Police arrested 34-year-old Philip Williams, a manager at the store.
Williams, along with 19-year-old Anthony J. Rodriguez, are accused of stealing multiple items from the Game Room in Omaha between June and July. According to court documents, Williams, who used to work at the Game Room, and Rodriguez brought the allegedly stolen merchandise to Gamers in Lincoln to sell it.
On July 18, the owner of Game Room, 311 S 72nd Street in Omaha, told police Rodriguez and employees from Gamers stole several thousand dollars worth of merchandise from the store, according to a police report.
Omaha officers arrested Rodriguez at the Omaha store, and he admitted to burglarizing the store and transporting “thousands of dollars worth” of merchandise to a separate business – believed to be Gamers in Lincoln – to be sold, according to the report.
The owner of Gamers told Channel 8 Eyewitness News that Rodriguez is no longer an employee, and that Williams has been suspended pending further investigation by law enforcement.
