UPDATE: Man killed after being electrocuted while trimming trees near 39th & Normal

UPDATE:

On Wednesday a man died after being electrocuted while doing yard work.

It happened just south of 40th St. and Normal Blvd.

Lincoln police said a man was trimming limbs up in a tree when he came in contact with power lines and was electrocuted.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue said they called in LES to shut down the power lines so they could get him down, but it was too late..

"The individual was pronounced at the scene with obvious signs of death," said LFR spokesperson Nancy Crist.  "That’s all I can tell you at this junction."

The incident closed down traffic along 40th St. for about an hour.

LPD hasn’t identified the man, but neighbors said he did live there and was not a worker who was hired to do the trimming.

Police said even though it looks accidental, they are continuing to investigate.

Channel 8 Eyewitness News will get you more details as soon as we learn more information.
