UPDATE: Seward County Sheriff identifies victims of the I-80

UPDATE: The Seward County Sheriff’s office has identifIed the four victims killed in yesterday’s crash along I-80 near the Milford exit.

Troy Wanzek, 20
Cole Auston, 19
All the victims were from Clinton, Iowa.
The Sheriff’s Office says a vehicle crossed over into the eastbound lanes and struck another vehicle. Three of the passengers were unrestrained and were ejected from the vehicle and killed instantly.
The drivers of both vehicles are currently hospitalized with life threatening injuries.
It’s unknown at this time why the vehicle crossed the median.
UPDATE:
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, one person was killed in a four vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 80 near Seward.
Abdiaziz Jama, 33, of Columbus, Ohio was killed in the crash, when the semi he was driving failed to slow down and rear ended another semi, causing a chain reaction that included a third semi and a 2013 Dodge Ram truck.
The crash occurred near mile marker 378 at approximately 10 a.m.
Jama’s passenger, Mohamed Apdullahi, 30, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Their semi also caught fire as a result of the crash. Investigations believe Jama may have been texting at the time of the crash.
Another crash handled by the State Patrol happened at approximately 11:35 a.m. when an Chevrolet SUV failed to observe that traffic had slowed and rear ended a semi.
The lone occupant of the SUV, Jeffrey Eymann, 68, of Grand Island was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The semi driver was uninjured.
A third crash that occurred around 7:30 a.m. west of the Milford rest area killed four people, according to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say a vehicle crossed over into the eastbound lanes and struck another vehicle.
It’s unknown at this time why the vehicle crossed the median.
The names of the victims in that crash have not yet been released.
LATEST INFORMATION: The Seward County Sheriff’s Office says four people were killed in an accident on I-80 just west of the Milford rest area.
The Sheriff’s Office says a vehicle crossed over into the eastbound lanes and struck another vehicle.
It’s unknown at this time why the vehicle crossed the median.
Another person is reported dead after a separate fiery crash on I-80 near Seward.
Deputies say that crash involved three semi trucks and one pickup truck.
The names of those involved in the accidents has not been released pending notification of relatives.
One other person was transported to a Lincoln hospital due to injuries sustained in the Milford accident.
Both crashes are under investigation.
Update: The Seward County Sheriff confirms to Channel 8 Eyewitness News that four people have been killed in a fiery crash near the Seward exit on I-80. I-80 eastbound remains closed but should re-open shortly. The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of relatives. One other person was taken to a Lincoln hospital. The Seward County Sheriff said another fatality may have also occurred on I-80 near the Utica exit as car collided from the traffic jam created by the first accident. The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the accident near Utica exit and hasn’t release information at this time. We will have a complete update on Channel 8 Eyewitness News at 5:30.
