UPDATE: NSP provides timeline to Superior shooting

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska State Patrol provides an update to the workplace shooting that occurred in Superior, Nebraska.
On Wednesday they gave more of a detailed look into the timeline of the events that happened on October 21st. A former employee returned to the Agrex, Inc. grain elevator, opening fire inside the complex, the incident happened around 1:25 p.m. CT. A preliminary investigation identified the shooter as Max Hoskinson, 61, of Superior.
As released by NSP the following day, Sandra Nelson, 60, of Formoso, Kansas was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. Darin Koepke, 53, of Hadar, Nebraska was flown to a Lincoln hospital and was later pronounced dead. A third victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the Superior hospital, the hospital released him later in the afternoon.
On November 10th, NSP held a press conference releasing additional information on the day’s timeline.
Hoskinson was terminated around 1:00 pm and parted on cordial terms, leaving the building per company policy within 5 minutes of the meeting. About 15 minutes later, Hoskinson returns through the same door he exits and enters his former office. At the time, staff are unaware that he has been terminated.
Officials said, Hoskinson walked past two other employees directly to Nelson’s office, immediately firing two rounds. According to the pathologist, the shot to Nelson’s chest was nearly instantly fatal.
In the neighboring office, four employees are meeting to discuss how the company will proceed when they recognize gunshots. One of the employees grabs and loads a shotgun that is kept in the closet for pest control purposes.
Mr. Koepke attempted to barricade the door with his body with the help of another employee. At this time, Koepke was injured by a round fired through the door causing injuries to his lung, liver, and heart. Hoskinson fired a second shot through the door striking a second victim in the room resulting in a minor injury.
Hoskinson then forced the door open, shooting Mr. Koepke once again in the chest while he was lying on the floor.
The employee who retrieved the shotgun fired one round that struck Hoskinson in the right arm and chest, incapacitating him causing him to drop the handgun. The employee then proceeded to retrieve the handgun and remove it away from Hoskinson’s vicinity.
From the first shot fired by Hoskinson, the entire event lasted 20 seconds and 911 calls were received within 1 minute of the first shot being fired. Hoskinson fired 5 rounds and ejected 1 live round leaving another 9 rounds remaining in the magazine.
There were 8 employees inside the building and several employees on the company ground, all people on the property at the time were employees of Agrex.
