A 37-year-old man has been identified after rescue crews found him dead in his home after a fire.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire & Rescue have identified a man who was found dead in his home after crews responded to a fire in the man’s apartment near 5500 Salt Valley View on Wednesday morning.
37-year-old Kendrick Carr was found deceased by LFR and LPD between the kitchen and the living area of his apartment. Crews originally responded to the apartment after a report of a fire inside around 2:30 a.m.
When crews arrived, they observed smoke coming from the first level living space and heard fire detectors sounding. After clearing the building, LFR found the source of the smoke and minor flames – a burnt pot of grease left on the hot stove – before discovering Carr’s body.
Police say they are still investigating the incident and the official cause of death has not been released.
Carr was a Lincoln resident. No other injuries were reported.
