USPS seeks to offset inflation through 5.4% price hike

Rep. Mike Flood Wants Downtown Post Office To Move

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) –Inflation could hit your mailbox this summer if the post office has its way. According to a press release from the United States Postal Service, a notice was filed with the Postal Regulatory Commission requesting a price change that would begin July 9, 2023.

According to a press release, the price hike is a direct result of inflation and a defective price model that affects the revenue needed to achieve goals established through a 10-year plan that was previously developed.

The price changes have been approved by the Governors of the U.S. Postal Service. In order to take effect they must also be approved by the Postal Regulatory Commision.

Below are the current postal prices along with their potential increase that would take effect July 9, 2023 if approved.
