12-year-old girl crashes van into porch of central Lincoln home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A van crashed into the porch of a home in central Lincoln early Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 4:25 a.m. in the area of 30th and T streets.
According to the Lincoln Police Department, the owner of the home was sleeping in the living room when he was woken up by a loud bang and the house shaking.
The homeowner said he saw three young girls in the van. LPD said all three got out of the van and ran from the scene.
A Channel 8 reporter at the scene shared a video on the NOW Local News App of the van, which had significant front-end damage.
LPD called the owner of the van, and she said her daughter or one of her daughter’s friends took the van without permission.
The daughter, a 12-year-old girl, admitted to driving the van when the accident happened.
According to LPD, the girl took a turn too fast and lost control of the van, hitting the porch.
She will be referred to juvenile court.
The cashed caused $8,000 in damage to the van, according to the crash report.
There is no word on how much damage was caused to the home.
No injuries were reported due to the crash.
