Vandals hit Lincoln neighborhood, shatter a car’s window

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln family is looking for answers after vandals struck their neighborhood.

A woman was coming home Monday when she noticed that her car’s back passenger window was shattered.

This happened near 32nd and Randolph streets in Woods Park.

Erin Hitz said she’s not sure when it happened, but hers was the only car with damage in the street.

“It’s basically just frustrating,” she said. “There’s just a lot of expenses at the end of the month with rent upcoming.”

Hitz is not alone. Vandalism and thefts related to cars continue to be a problem across Lincoln, according to police data.

The Lincoln Police Department website shows that in May, 146 vehicles were broken into.

Hitz said she can’t understand why someone would break the window but not take anything.

Despite the reports of crimes, neighbors in Woods Park told Channel 8 they feel safe.
