Vaping sales among minors drop in Lancaster County

Lancaster County saw a drop in vapor product sales to minors from 21.3% in 2017 to 5.3% in 2018, according to city and county officials.
They credit the reduction to stores compliance and compliance checks from the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Dept., the Lincoln Police Dept. and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office using youth volunteers.
It’s illegal in the state to sell tobacco products to anyone under 18, and a 2014 law also made it illegal to sale vapor products to minors.
However, the sale of non-vapor products to minors increased from 2017-18, from 5.9% to 8.7%.
The combined rate of both products was 8%.
