LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A teen was injured Monday after driving off an embankment in northeast Nebraska.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said the one-vehicle crash happened on Highway 57, just south of Stanton, around 12:45 p.m.

A 17-year-old was heading south when they lost control of the SUV and hit a guardrail, according to the sheriff’s office.

The vehicle then plunged 40 feet down an embankment.

“It’s miraculous that the SUV did not roll over during its deep descent into a field,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

The teen was taken to a hospital in Norfolk with injuries that were not life-threatening.
