‘Very big’ man injured four officers during arrest in Lincoln, authorities say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities say a “very big” man put up a fight Wednesday when they tried to arrest him in Lincoln.

Just before 3 p.m., the Lancaster County Fugitive Task Force went to a home near Third and B streets to arrest 44-year-old Jarrad King on a burglary warrant.

But King pulled away from one of the officers and tried to leave, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Several other law enforcement officers took him to the ground, Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.

King “started thrashing around” on the ground, Houchin said, injuring multiple officers.

“As he was rolling around and things, they rolled with him,” he said.

The officers shocked King with a Taser twice.

Houchin called King, 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, “very big.”

“And he did not want to go,” the chief deputy said.

A sheriff’s office deputy, a sheriff’s office sergeant, a Nebraska State Patrol sergeant and a U.S. marshal suffered scrapes and bruises, but Houchin said none needed medical attention.

Authorities said they found 3 grams of methamphetamine and steroids in King’s vehicle.

He was arrested on suspicion of four counts of third-degree assault on an officer, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, in addition to the burglary warrant.
