Very warm again Monday; storms possible Tuesday and beyond
The nose of a warm front was evident first this morning as areas near Beatrice and Hebron started in the middle 60s. That front will make its way north through most of southeast Nebraska, where temperatures will quickly rise to the low to mid 80s Monday afternoon.
Mostly sunny on Monday, Lincoln again will near records for the date with our high temperature nearing the middle 80s.
The rest of the week, the weather pattern will be very active. Starting by Tuesday afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible along the stalled warm front from Monday, with upper-level forcing catching up.
The best chances at this point look to come late Tuesday and early Wednesday through the morning. Storms are possible first through central Nebraska before moving east. These thunderstorms are not expected to be severe.
Through the week, there’s a good chance a lot of us see up to 1″ of rain, maybe 2-3″ in some select areas that see more of these thunderstorms. By the end of the week, too, colder air is set to pour in from the north.
The Climate Prediction Center has good chances for Nebraska to be below normal for the period of October 28th through November 1st. That includes Halloween, which looks much cooler at this time, too.
Some of the temperatures by next weekend look to support at least a chance for a wintry mix, but more of those details we’ll need time to get a better grasp on. For now, the focus is on an unsettled week starting Tuesday.
