Very warm Friday; Husker heavy in gameday forecasts
Another warm one coming up for Friday. Overall, we’ve got a quiet weather pattern supporting warm air across the western half of the United States. For us, that means temperatures pushing 15-20 degrees above normal.
The record for Lincoln is at 90° from the 1940s, but the forecast calls for highs in the mid to upper 80s. It’ll be close.
As for Friday evening plans, it’ll still be warm after the sun goes down. Anticipate temperatures in the upper 70s for all those high school kicks. Our Game of the Week features Malcolm and Wilber-Clatonia in Wilber with kickoff at 7 p.m. Friday night. The sun will be down by the time this game starts, so expect temperatures in the 60s by the end of these games.
After a bye week for the Huskers, the game celebrating 100 years in Memorial will have great weather throughout! Lincoln expected to be in middle 60s through the early afternoon hours and only warming into the lower 70s. Great football weather.
But the Husker volleyball game takes place soon after football, for one of the biggest matchups of the season. Volleyball is included in this week’s Huskercast even though the game will be played indoors as many are going to be out and about. For those heading from football to volleyball or for those out and around town looking to enjoy the girls’ game, expect pleasant conditions well into the evening.
After being dry through the end of the week and first part of the weekend, showers with maybe a rumble of thunder possible by Sunday afternoon. Eastern Nebraska may see these roll through from the southwest toward the northeast.
The unsettled pattern continues all next week, too. Chances for rain every day through the following weekend, although we will probably not see rain every day. Keep an eye on this active forecast as details are sure to change.
