Very warm on Friday, then severe weather possible late this weekend

After a fantastic Bike Drive yesterday, it happens to be National Bike to Work Day today. The morning hours should be quite pleasant before we’re a lot warmer by the afternoon.

And expecting a very warm one today! We’ll be inching closer again to what may be our first 90-degree day of the year.

Lincoln Today Hour By Hour

This comes with southerly winds picking up and gusting toward 20-25 mph today. It’ll feel like more of a summer breeze with the warmth from the sun today.

Still sticking around the 80s through the weekend too, with a frontal boundary that’ll knock temperatures back a few degrees on Saturday. Then by Sunday, storm chances increase.

There’s a severe weather risk with storms expected on Sunday. A Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk for south-central and southeast Nebraska does include Lincoln for storms expected by the evening hours.

Spc Sunday

For now, this is one of our closer looks into Sunday’s event watching Stormcast below. The threat of severe weather in our area will be somewhat conditional based on the morning’s round of showers and thunderstorms – so we’ll be watching how the environment recovers.

But timing for stronger storms across eastern Nebraska later in the day will be more so toward the evening hours, with large hail, damaging wind and a couple of tornadoes possible.

There’s another risk of severe weather on Monday, too. This time it highlights mainly southeast Nebraska for more storms developing Monday afternoon.
