Victim’s Family Reacts To Falls City Shooting
52 year old Ann Lynette Marx was killed in her car around 8:30 on Sunday night.
Investigators say a Richardson County Sheriff's Deputy shot her while he was trying to arrest her. We talked to Marx's nephew, who lives in Lincoln and he says the circumstances surrounding her death are a complete mystery to him and his entire family.
The incident is now being investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol, but Marx's family members say they're not getting much information. “Anne is not one that would ever hurt anyone, let alone be in trouble with the law. “says Ann Lynette Marx's nephew, Corry Lippold.
“She was a wonderful person and that didn't deserve to happen, not to somebody like that. Not at all, it's very confusing,” said Lippold
Details have been hard to come by, but now the Falls City Journal reports that on the night of Sunday, August 13th, witnesses saw Marx traveling with another male when two squad cars surrounded her vehicle. According to the paper, multiple shots were fired at the car, by Sheriff's Deputy Todd Landis. The male traveling with Marx fled on foot, but was caught and later released. The paper also states that about a week earlier, Marx had been notified that her drivers license would be revoked because of too many traffic violations. “I was shocked. I was stunned, because my Aunt Anne was nothing less than a wonderful person that loved everything and loved everybody,” says Lippold.
She loved helping other people before herself, and Lippold says she was always a shoulder for him to lean on when he came knocking. Lippold remembers her gentle demeanor and says his Aunt didn't have a criminal record. “It's a hard pill to swallow. Losing somebody is hard enough, but losing somebody without reason is twice as hard,”says Lippord. Marx leaves behind a husband and two sons. The deputy accused of shooting Marx will face a grand jury, once the Nebraska State Patrol completes its investigation. Marx's body has been transported to Douglas County for an autopsy.
