UPDATE: Video shows two men stealing cellphones from Lincoln store

Lincoln Police are looking for two men caught on camera stealing several cellphones from a north Lincoln store.

Employees at iRepair Smartphones near 27th and Superior told police two men entered the store around 11:30 a.m. Friday and asked about some cellphones.

Surveillance video obtained  by Channel 8 Eyewitness News shows the store’s employee go into a back room, at which time one of the men reaches around a counter and grabs several phones from behind a display case.

The man runs from the store before the employee returns, but the video shows the other man staying behind.

The store’s owner, Hyle Erwin, told Channel 8 Eyewitness News that when the employee returned and noticed the phones were missing, the other man offered to go track him down.

The video shows the second man leave the store and the employee once again goes to a back room.

Once the employee leaves, the man comes back into the store and grabs at least one more cellphone.

“It’s heartbreaking because you spend all this blood, sweat and tears opening up a business and someone comes in and just takes what’s not theirs,” Erwin said.  “I’m not a big fan of thieves.”

That man left the store and fled in a dark colored vehicle, according to police.

Police described both men as white males in their 30s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
