Vigil held for Lincoln mother who remains in critical condition

Tonight a vigil was held for a Lincoln woman. Davonnis Wilkinson remains in critical condition after Monday’s early morning shooting.

Dozens of people were at the vigil at Oak Lake Park. People there said Wilkinson is a great mom with so much character.

"A lot of my memories are when we were younger so you know were all older now and you know time has changed, people grow up," said Wilkinson’s cousin, Kameron Neeman.

All of this comes after the father of her children was in court today.

Rashaun Jones was arrested for assault earlier on Sunday. He was charged in court with 3rd degree assault and a $25,000 bond was set.

The investigation into whether or not he pulled the trigger continues. The 25 year old mother of five was shot several times in the head.

People at the vigil said they are continuing to pray for her.

"Hopefully restore some faith in everybody," said Neeman.

Wilkinson was shot near 3rd and Fairfield in northwest Lincoln.

Jones was ordered by the judge to have no contact with her and to avoid the home where the shooting happened.
