Vigil Held to Remember 2 Killed by Drunk Driver
Two years ago Wednesday night two people lost their lives when a drunk driver hit their motorcycle in Lincoln. Their best friends held a vigil to remind people not to drink and drive.
About 50 people gathered at the corner of 84th and Havelock, the site of the fatal crash that killed 18 year old Morgan Hohnbaum of Grand Island and her boyfriend Josh Milana from Lincoln. Both victims died at the scene. The driver blew twice the legal limit.
Josh's mother emotionally urged everyone to use a sober driver.
For Morgan's best friend Amy, it was about remembering her life but also about saving others lives so no one else has to go through the pain. Amy said she's struggled endlessly with the grief of her loss but she's turned it into a way to tell Morgan's story and teach others about the tragedy of drunk driving.
Amy is hosting a fashion fundraiser later this summer with the proceeds going to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.
