VP of Grand Island company pleads not guilty to DUI

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An executive at a Grand Island corporation has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence and three other charges.

Jason Hornady, the vice president of Hornady Manufacturing, entered the plea Monday in a document filed in Hall County Court.

On June 21, the 54-year-old was pulled over for speeding just outside of Grand Island, court documents say.

He was “showing off” for his friend by going 151 mph in a 50 mph zone, an arrest affidavit alleges.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy smelled alcohol on Hornady, who then failed a preliminary breath test.

Hornady was arrested and taken to the Hall County Jail, where his blood alcohol content level was measured at .151% — almost twice the legal limit.

On June 24, he paid a $250 bail to be released from jail.

Hornady is charged with DUI, willful reckless driving-second offense, racing and speeding by more than 36 mph. All are misdemeanors or infractions.

He will be arraigned on Sept. 5. Hornady requested a jury trial, which has been scheduled for Sept. 16.

Hornady Manufacturing makes ammunition and other firearm accessories.
