Wahoo football wins second straight Class C1 championship

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — On a windy Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, Wahoo hoisted its second straight Class C1 championship trophy, beating Sidney 20-6.
The Red Raiders got the ball to start the game, driving it all the way down the field and inside the five-yard line.
However, the Wahoo defense stood tall, forcing a turnover on downs. That stand, setting the stage for a dominant Warrior performance.
Wahoo would go on to score 20 unanswered first-half points.
The Red Raiders scored their first touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter but missed the two-point conversion, leaving it 20-6.

Senior running back Kip Brigham and quarterback Jase Kaminski led the way on both offense and defense.
Brigham rushed for two touchdowns while racking up nine total tackles and an interception.
“It’s been a long journey, but the best journey I could ask for,” said Brigham. “It’s an incredible going back-to-back. It’s a super hard thing to do, not a lot of teams can say they have done that.”
Kaminski threw for a touchdown, went for five total tackles, and had an interception.
“To be able to come do this three years in a row and win two times is something that is really special and will never be taken for granted,” said Kaminski.

The Warriors finish the season undefeated at 13-0.
“(This team) is very unselfish and they want to see their teammates succeed,” said head coach Chad Fox. “To me, that’s something that’s very special, and that’s one of the reasons why we’ve been as good as we have the last few years.”
