LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Norris Public Power District is warning Nebraskans to avoid rushing to the garden after summer storms.

Officials said you shouldn’t use electrical equipment outdoors if it’s still wet outside, as electricity and water don’t mix.

You could get injured or worse from electric shock.

NPPD said following a few simple safety rules could prevent a serious accident.

Turn off and unplug your electrical equipment whenever you’re cleaning or adjusting it.

Store it in a dry place.  And check that it hasn’t been damaged by water before switching it on.
