Walmart thief gets more prison time for ecstasy bust in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man who was sentenced for a “one-man crime spree” last week returned to court Monday.

In Lancaster County District Court, 47-year-old Marlon Tigner of California was sentenced to 10 to 15 years for a felony drug charge.

The sentence will automatically be cut in half because of Nebraska’s good time law.

On Jan. 25, Tigner was pulled over on Interstate 80 in north Lincoln for driving on the shoulder, an arrest affidavit says.

The vehicle was searched after a deputy smelled marijuana and saw a rolling tray in the front passenger seat, according to the affidavit.

Inside, the deputy found 18 ounces of marijuana and around 300 ecstasy pills, the affidavit says.

While Tigner was being booked in the Lancaster County Jail, authorities learned that he was a suspect in an organized retail crime scheme.

Tigner stole from Walmart cash registers “spanning from Washington to Massachusetts and from Texas to Wisconsin,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Three of the stores were in Omaha.  In total, he stole $690,484.

Tigner was sentenced Friday to nearly six years in prison for fraudulent use of an unauthorized access device.

A judge also ordered him to pay restitution.

The sentences will be served back to back.
