Wandering mountain lion spotted again in Omaha area

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A mountain lion roaming around the Omaha area for over a week was spotted again Wednesday as it continues to evade authorities.
The mountain lion was first seen at a home near Interstate 80 and Q Street around 4:15 a.m. on July 24. It was spotted again just a few blocks away on Friday.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission said the mountain lion was seen Wednesday moving along the Papillion Creek between Interstate 80 and 96th Street.
Then, around midnight, a Game and Parks officer and the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office responded to a sighting near the Walnut Creek Recreation Area.
Officials said the report is “considered probable but unconfirmed” due to a lack of definitive evidence.
Anyone who sees the mountain lion should stay calm, back away slowly and get inside a home or car.
Officials said a mountain lion within city limits will be killed if it can be done safely.
Anyone with information should contact the Omaha Police Department or Game and Parks immediately.
