LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man tried evading arrest Monday night — but he crashed into a tree, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 8:50 p.m., deputies learned that a man, possibly armed and wanted on a felony arrest warrant, was driving in the area.

Shortly after, deputies found the vehicle on Interstate 80 near Gothenburg, according to the sheriff’s office.

After a “brief verbal exchange” with deputies, the man sped off and stopped in Gothenburg.

Deputies approached him, and he drove off again.  But this time, he crashed into a tree, the sheriff’s office said.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken into custody.  An investigation is ongoing.

The Nebraska State Patrol and several other local agencies helped the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.
