LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A wanted woman kicked and scratched officers Thursday during an arrest in Grand Island, police say.

Around 1:15 p.m., officers were sent to a strip mall near West Faidley Avenue and Diers Avenue.

When officers arrived, they were told that Katelyn Simmons — who was wanted on a warrant from York County — was in the bathroom, according to police.

Simmons opened the door but immediately shut it once she saw the officers, police said.

Eventually, an officer forced open the door, which Simmons was trying to hold closed.

Officers tried taking Simmons into custody but she started kicking the officers, according to police.

During the struggle, she grabbed at an officer’s face and scratched his face and neck, police said.

Simmons was eventually placed in handcuffs and lodged in jail on suspicion of assaulting an officer, obstruction and resisting arrest.
