Warm and windy before cooler conditions
Did anyone catch the epic sunrise this morning? We know some of our viewers sure did:
You’ll step out to some stronger winds on Thursday morning! A good breeze out of the south will pick up throughout the morning with wind gusts expected around 30-40 mph. Wind direction will be important throughout the day, too, as it will be changing.
Winds will be out of the south through the afternoon, promoting another warm afternoon. Some added cloud cover and partly sunny skies will make it hard for us to see the 70s today. That being said, we’ll still be about 15 degrees warmer than averages in the low 50s at this time of year.
A lull in the strong winds will happen by Thursday evening as a cold front passes. That cold front will shift winds out of the north, and they’ll pick up again Thursday night.
Those northerly winds will bring temperatures back down to normal. Below will be the high temperature on Friday, with highs only in the 50s. Winds will be a lot calmer tomorrow.
Not expected to see much of anything (sprinkles at best) as this cold front passes on Thursday, but a lot more rain may be in the cards this weekend.
The Weather Prediction Center has good potential for some measurable rain in eastern Nebraska. As of now, the most rain is supposed to happen over the spots that need it the most – the areas in exceptional drought!
So hopeful for now, but we’ll continue to hammer out more details as we figure out the track of that system as it develops to our south on Sunday.
