Warm start to October; Cooling down later in the week
Lincoln has broke yet another record for high temperatures! On Saturday September 30th, Lincoln saw a record breaking high temperature of 96 degrees! The previous high was set back in 1952 at 94 degrees. Summer-like temperatures are expected to linger into the start of the new work week, with seasonal temperatures expected later in the week.
On Sunday we will be waking up to temperatures in the 70s. Sunday’s expected low temperatures are closer to our normal seasonal highs.
The heat continues for a little longer, Sunday temperatures will reach the lower 90s and upper 80s once again.
Another windy day ahead, expect gusts ranging from 20-27 mph. The southerly breeze will pick up in the afternoon.
Eastern and central counties will stay dry with mostly sunny skies. There are small chances for showers and storms Sunday evening, they will primarily stay in the panhandle.
Sunday’s storm chances bring a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms, damaging winds and large hail. Models show an isolated storm chance and not so widespread.
We will trend cooler heading into the middle of next week. Along with cooler temperatures comes chances for storms.
