Warm today with the potential for storms 4/28/2022

We are off to a mild start this morning with temperatures in the 50s and 60s across southeast Nebraska. The sky is clear at the moment, but clouds will build in throughout the rest of the day and eventually we will see thunderstorms. Temperatures will still make a good attempt to reach the upper 70s and low 80s this afternoon before the clouds move in, and I think it’s pretty likely. Most of the thunderstorms won’t start to bubble up until the evening commute. There is the potential for some of these storms to turn severe this evening and through tomorrow morning, so we will continue to keep an eye on conditions. Temperatures remain mild in the mid-50s overnight thanks to cloud coverage, but highs tomorrow will be cooler in the low 70s. Scattered thunderstorms are likely all day Friday with the best chance in the morning and evening, but specifically the during evening. The viewing area is under a slight risk for severe weather with hail and strong wind gusts as the biggest threats, but we can’t rule out the potential for tornadic weather. Rain showers linger into early Saturday morning, before we dry out for the remainder of the weekend. Temperatures will remain in the 60s until Monday when the 70s are expected to return.
