Warm week ahead, rain chances increasing
A FIRE WEATHER WATCH is in effect through Sunday evening for parts of central Nebraska. Any fires that start could spread quickly, due to the windy conditions and warm temperatures.
This is the time of year that parts of Kansas (Flint Hills) does a lot of controlled burning to improve the productivity of the range land for ranching practices. That, unfortunately, can mean a lot of smoke and haze if the wind is blowing from the south. Tonight and tomorrow morning, we will have poor air quality and Air Quality Alerts are issued. Those who are unusually sensitive to particle pollution may experience health effects.
The worst of the smoke is likely to happen tonight and linger through Sunday morning.
A mild Saturday night. Temperatures in the low to mid 50s, with south winds gusting up to 30+ mph.
Winds look to increase Sunday morning and peak in the afternoon. Wind gusts 20-30+ mph.
Sunday, temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Northwest winds will try and cool us off a bit.
It’s beginning to look like spring in Nebraska! Temperatures look to stay in the 60s, 70s and even 80s. Rain and storm chances look to increase as temperatures stay relatively warm throughout next week.
