Models show the potential for snow Sunday night through Tuesday morning with the heaviest in the Sandhills.
Some portions of northern Nebraska could see up to a foot of snow.
Icy roadways prior to the snow will create hazardous driving conditions.
The threat of thunderstorms on Sunday will also be present in portions of Nebraska and Kansas.
Winds in eastern Nebraska will become strong and gusty by late afternoon.
The impact of the storm in southeast Nebraska will primarily be a rain event but switch over to snow by Monday night.
As a surface low moves out of Colorado a cold front leads the way with temperatures dropping rapidly as it passes and winds picking up from the north/northwest gusting 50-to-60 MPH in portions of western Nebraska. The high winds combined with heavy snow in many portions of the state will create near blizzard conditions.
